U6 Project Issues & Lazarus Patches
Written by Administrator
Sunday, 05 February 2006
{mosimage} The U6 Team is very much still active, but their website seems to be flaking out due to me, I'm afraid. I'm trying to take ownership of their domains and the ISPs involved are getting very confused. Thus, no domains until that gets worked out. You can still access the U6 website through this link:

http://u6project.laymeduck.com

We're hoping to have the domains u6project.com and u6archon.com back up and running soon.

I also wanted to take a moment to note that Lazarus has a patch out (1.1a) and they are hard at work on 1.2, which will most likely be their final release. There will be many Project Britannia fixes included in 1.2, so this is exciting for all of us involved.

Announcing Project Britannia:M1!!!
Written by Frilly Wumpus
Friday, 21 October 2005
We're proud to announce the Milestone 1 Release of Project Britannia.

Project Britannia can be downloaded from:
* Project Britannia Site (165MB)

The file has also been split into 3 pieces (RAR format) for easier download over at Dagon's Lair . Thanks Dagon! :)
Project Britannia Pt. 1 (78MB)
Project Britannia Pt. 2 (78MB)
Project Britannia Pt. 3 (8MB)

Another Mirror with thanks to Ultima:Aiera
Project Britannia Pt. 1
Project Britannia Pt. 2
Project Britannia Pt. 3

To Install, download the project_britannia.zip file, unzip to a temporary directory, and run setup.exe.  Additional information can be found in DS1MOD.TXT within the zip file.

Mac Users: This has not been tested on a Mac since we don't have access to one. Volunteers?  But the download is a zip file and all the *.dsres and *.dsmap files are actually broken out from the windows installer.  You should be able to drop these directly into the location that Dungeon Siege looks for tanks.  (Resources folder on Windows)

*You must have the full version of Dungeon Siege 1 or Dungeon Siege:Legends of Aranna installed in order to use this release.

Enjoy! And feel free to comment in our forums.

Note: If gameplay and story are high on your list, we'd strongly suggest you wait until Ultima V:Lazarus is shipped.  Lazarus is being built upon the Project Britannia core and will add much more in order to provide a fully playable game.

Project Britannia is not a full game and the M1 release can also be considered an early Technical Demonstration of what can be done.  The target audience for Project Britannia is:

  • Developers looking to build on top of this framework to develop new Ultima-style adventures
  • Dungeon Siege Mod Authors looking to incorporate new functionality into their mods
  • Curious players who don't care about gameplay, story, etc. But want to wander around an Ultima Style world.
